Pasti anda seakan tidak percaya bila melihat acara pelucuran produk baru Yamaha di acara EICMA milan,Italia beberapa waktu yang lalu.Bukan karena produk-produk baru mereka yang dipamerkan,namun justru saat sesosok motor datang dari balik panggung seolah-olah itu bukanlah produk yang asing bagi para jurnalis yang hadir.Secara desain tidak terbantahkan itu adalah motor salah satu prototype motoGP terbaik saat ini,Yamaha YZR-M1,pacuan Valentino Rossi dan Jorge Lorenzo.
Namun yang lebih mengejutkan adalah saat layar besar menunjukkan tulisan New YZF-R1.Waduh,apa maksudnya ini??? Cukup membingungkan karena YZF-R1 adalah motor superbike produksi masal Yamaha yang selama ini dikenal dengan desainnya yang cantik dan teknologi crossplane crankshaft khas Yamaha.
